Milnbank Housing Association (MHA) have recently committed to the Make A Stand pledge to take action to support people experiencing domestic abuse. By signing the pledge MHA have become part of a collective effort along with CIH, Women’s Aid and the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA), and the many people affected by domestic abuse every day.
Housing organisations house and employ millions of people across the UK, meaning we come into contact with thousands of people affected by domestic abuse.
Domestic abuse is one of the biggest issues we face in society today. Millions of people experience domestic abuse every year and two women are killed every week in the UK by their partner or ex-partner.
A simple look at the shocking scale of domestic abuse, and that’s just the abuse we know about, is enough to tell you that as a sector we collectively house and employ many thousands of people who experience domestic abuse.
These are our homes, our people and this is our problem and MHA is determined to put tackling domestic abuse at the heart of what we do. We want to reach as many people as possible with Make A Stand, and the success of the campaign will rely on us spreading the word and gaining real momentum. To help us achieve this, Make A Stand, have also developed social media and email signature banners to showcase the fact that MHA has made the pledge.
