Carbon Footprints Nursery LogoThe nursery has been made possible with substantial funding from the Big Lottery.

It will operate from a purpose built, premises at the Great Eastern development in Duke Street.

The nursery will be registered for 75 children - with 12 baby places, 15 toddler places for those aged 2-3, and 24 pre-school places.

In addition there will be 24 places for 5-12 year olds in a separate out-of-school service.

The building itself will be one of the most energy efficient buildings in Scotland and will include low-carbon features such as rainwater harvesting, passive solar heating, waste minimisation and an electric minibus.....hence the name....

Caring for the planet AND the next generation !

The nursery and the building will have a strong community element. Staff will be recruited locally and as the nursery develops it is anticipated that training placements will be available for young people within the community.

It is also intended that the nursery will provide the necessary support to families of young children who are trying to get work or training but have been unable, until now, to access affordable, flexible childcare in their neighbourhood.
